1993 Cobra vs. 2001 Cobra Vert. Comparo.

Post by sn8k1 »

I took my 93 out last weekend and "stretched" the legs a bit for the first time. I took it out behind Disney and there are some sweet curvy roads, not too much to chose from in central florida. I cant believe the handling of this car! I was very impressed. Both of my cobras were stock with the exception of exhaust on the 2001. The 01 did seem to stop better than the 93. The cars seemed very equal in the acceleration department, but the 01 may have been a bit quicker. The low end torque of the 93 helps make it feel more even. The 01 didnt breath until about 4,000rpm. For the most part these cars felt very similar. One thing that was way better on the 01: Top down and the magnaflow exhaust screaming! Overall, the 93 is the one... Just my opinion.

Nice. Sounds like fun.

I'm a sucker for 03/04's. Love the body style and the twin screw is plain sick, can't beat that sound.

And/or I wanted a black or red 93 Cobra. - Damn, I got screwed.

Ive only had the opportunity to ride in a very lightly modified 93 (exaust work) .. a stock 94.. and a highly modified 03 (pushing 500 ponies). Did they mess with the torque curve with the 01's? I alsways loved the 5.0 engine cause it just feels like its gonna rip your head off on the low end.

Are you talking about an '03 Cobra? Cause an '03 and '01 Cobras are different animals.

Yes I meant the 01 Cobra. There is no comparo for the terminators. Those are bad to the bone. The modular are higher reving and dont feel as torquey. The 5.0 takes the cake on that!

Makes me glad I decided to buy a 93 instead of a 96 Mystic.

We have an 01 vert as well. The best thing about the 99-up cars is the ride quality with the IRS. I love it
