Window sticker

Hi guys, I'm wondering if my window sticker is real or a knock off. The ones I've seen have a blue background under the writing, mine doesn't. Did they make some this way or could it have faded after 20 years without being framed or laminated? It has two sided tape on both sides and quality job1 all over the back. It also has the dealer stock number written on it on the top.

For whatever reason I can't get the link to the pic to view correctly. I can only see the thumbnail.

There was a crossover of that older style window sticker (the dark blue) to the newer style (black) listed in the link above. However, until I can get a better view of it I can't tell what the deal is with it. I have never seen that style on 93 Cobra window stickers, but have seen it on 93 Feature Vert cars. The older style did not have the blue background under the writing.

When I click on the thumb, it goes to a page for me to upload the pic, as opposed to viewing the big image.

It's possible it was a dealer reprint done back in the day, on the older style stock. Hard to say for sure.

Maybe your correct about being the older style since the car is a low build number at 468. I know it came from the dealer because they wrote the stock number on it and its the same writing on the bill of sale and other paper work. I'm trying to resend the photo but I'm having a tuff time

Looks authentic. I suspect it was a dealer reprint. Those were available.

I'd like to have a much bigger to pic to look at. Picture is still kind of small, but it is bigger than the thumbnail above.

OP just sent me bigger pix. Here is what I said back to him:

Yep, looks like the real deal to me. Very probably it's a reprint. Dealers sometimes did that if one got damaged or if it shipped without one.

The old style and new style were physically the same size, so the individual info would fit on either one.

I've got earlier samples than your production date and they are the newer style, not the older style like this one. That's why I think it was a reprint.

In fact, at the bottom right was supposed to be the actual production date - it isn't there. Makes me think even more that it's a reprint done at the dealer.

Thanks Richard, that clears up all my questions. Can you make a window sticker for a 92 GT sold in Canada? All GT's in Canada where called cobra's, says it on my bill of sale and ownership. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Unfortunately, no. Simply not enough interest for me to build a template to do them. Also, they are partially done in French and I'm a bit rusty. I think I only have a sample or two of Canadian build window stickers.

Blame that on the late great Carroll Shelby and his lawsuit against Ford in the early 80s. Since Ford had not used the Cobra name on Mustangs since the 60s (with the exception of some option packages of decals and such on certain models), Shelby sued Ford to use the Cobra name on some other projects he was involved with. After the lawsuit, Ford needed to use the Cobra name consistently to retain partial rights to it ... hence the reason for the Canadian "Cobra" GTs during the Fox-body years.

Had Shelby completely won the lawsuit and Ford not been allowed to use the Cobra name, the '93 Cobra we all know and love would likely have been called the GT Plus. Now that's lame!

LOL!!! Ya that name wouldn't have sounded very well. I didn't know the whole lawsuit deal,good to know. I messed up when I bought my GT, it was new in the showroom and didn't have the window sticker on it. I was only 17 at the time and the last thing on my mind was the window sticker
