wax on rubber around windows?
Hey guys, I ran into a sweet black 93 at a show in October, asked the guy what he used on his window rubber, he said he just used wax on it, but that it had silicone in it, anybody know what kind he was talking about? I read a post on here that someone else mentioned waxing that also but no specifics, thanks for the help

Re: wax on rubber around windows?
i would just use spray silicone and a little goes a long way. try not to get on the paint, because if you ever have to have paint work done , silicone is one of the hardest things to clean , that will cause "fisheyes" in new paint.
Re: wax on rubber around windows?
I have used wax on window moldings for years and it seems to work great.I was given this tip from another car enthusiasts and had my doubts but it works great.I use a wax called diamond luster, you need to apply and wipe off in a timely manner so you don't get any hazing. If hazing does happen no problem just reapply and wipe off a little quicker this time.Good luck

I have used a 3m buffing compound to clean the rubber molding to get a gloss back if it is a smooth finish.

Re: wax on rubber around windows?
are yall talking about the painted trim around the windows or the soft rubber?
Re: wax on rubber around windows?
I was referring to the rubber moldings,I was skeptical about using wax on the rubber at first but when done correctly the results are fantastic.I had also wondered if the chemicals in the wax would break down the rubber but as of now it has not.1993cobra wrote:are yall talking about the painted trim around the windows or the soft rubber?
