first 93 cobra

Post by 1993cobra »

Do you all remember the first time you saw a 93 Cobra?

I never really saw them at the dealers because we dont have any SVT dealers around here. The first one I remember was wrecked back in 94 it had been rolled very lightly and the owner wanted to sell it as is , for like $5,500.00 . I remember thinking "Man those were some big wide tires" , But that was in 94 when the Corvette was the only thing you would see with bigger tires. I live in a college town so soon after I started seeing one every now and then. Bought my first in 97. How about everyone else?

I can remember sitting at a car show with my 69 Mach 1 in the early summer when a red with black interior 93 Cobra rolled in. Still had the paper tag on it. I knew right then I had to have one.

I was working at a Ford dealer and still do, but it was the red car, I thought Damn thats a bad bitch, and a few months later I bought my first Ford a 92 Mustang GT

That car was a little out of my price range back then as I was just starting out in life, but now, If i saw one I had to have it will be a different story

I remember the dealer and all, where the car was parked, even the service righter

The story of the GT....

I went to work and put some gas in across the street, bought a 12pack for the night, I think it was a Friday, but I know it was 12/31/04.

I drove into work and clocked in, put the beer in my fridge I have at work, was driving the car back to the employee parking lot, came across the parked cars in the lot, that were the customers, I looked left , then right and o the left again as I was rolling, I was in manual low and a buddy walked by, I snapped the throttle and this 04 F150 came flying throught the parking lot and I tagged it in thel/f bumper all the way down to the l/r tire.

Now it wasnt that bad till the l/r tire got my front bumper then it pulled the front end over. none the less, here are a few pics

Only the ground effect piece in front of the tires is different right? I believe all 79-93 fenders themselves are exactly the same.

No, the actuall fender itself is different. There was a change in 91 all 1991 , 92, 93 fenders have a different wheel opening shape . The difference is between the front bumper and tire . It was made larger to help acomadate the larger 16" wheels of the gt and the 17"s to come later on the cobra. They will intercange as long as you use the front fender extention that correspondes with the year fender you are using. see photo link below

My first time seeing, learning, and wanting a '93 Cobra has been a long time coming, but I can tell it in this short story.

When I was in middle school just like everybody else I was starting to visualize myself as a cool looking motor vehicle operator. So in my early teens during the also early 90's, I discovered this aggressive sounding, looking, and intimidating automobile called the Fox body 5.0 GT. The many stories that I later heard of it blowing other cars away set in concrete that this was the car for me.

So a few years past and it was finally my turn to have a car of my own. So when I reached the eleventh grade I began my search.('96) And low and behold there was a near mint condition 93 GT in a local bank repo lot. So I went and test drove it. Talked with the lot manager and he said they were asking $9,000for it. That was no problem, but when it came to getting insurance they wanted $1,600 for six months. I was crushed so the stang had to wait.

After graduating I went on to college in Huntsville,AL. During my time there, there was an MCA National Mustang Show in 2001. So of course I went, and there it was this '93 COBRA. This was the first time I had ever seen one in person. I had seen a picture of maybe three or four in magazines before that, but didn't relize how special they were. Right then I was sold. I told myself that if I could wait for a stang 5 years I might as well get the best.

I'll stop here but if anyone cares about how I ended up getting my COBRA I will gladly finish the story. I hope this will get some of you to tell your story. I hope I didn't get to far off of what 1993cobra was asking for. But some things just mean more to some than others. Once again I'm sorry if too long and thank you for creating this site.
