#516 it's on the Facebook 1993 cobras page with the new style intake, it had a super charger, wondering if it's been changed?

I own #516 and it’s the same newer style intake. I talked to the previous owner who did all the work on the car and he claims the intake has never been taken off. I believe him. The valve covers even have the factory marks still. Has 12k miles. Image

A ridge intake on #512 from the factory? Now that was unexpected!

2/18/93 and had the same last six as one of the pre reproduction cars. I'd really like to see the date on the bottom of the intake. And the door tag

Thats pretty weird. I wonder if they could have the same last of the vin since one is in the 92 production run and one is in the 93 be interesting to see if it is a EY or ES color code as well. Defiantly would like to see the door tag.

My #516 build date is 2/18/93. I’m
Sure you won’t find a number where the cut off was made for early intakes. Like any plant the motors are all assembled and put on a assembly line. They don’t necessarily go in order they were built. At least not in the factory I worked at. At the very least you might find the last build number where a flat side Intake was used... just my opinion

Has the last 6 as the very first pre production car on the list. How’s that possible ? Do I have a special car or just coincidence lol

Could just be a crazy coincident but it could be possible since one is on the 92 vin order and the other is on the 93 that cars could have the same last 6.

Pretty interesting. Wish there was a easy way to get to the date stamp on the upper intake

Maybe ... but we came pretty close. Back in 2013 (on Page 1 of this thread), I posted that the upper manifolds w/the ridge were included in engines built after approx. 2/19/93. It looks like that started a day earlier. Assuming the registry list is accurate, your Cobra was the first built on 2/18/93 because the registry shows #515 was built on 2/17/93. Assuming your car's intake is indeed original from the factory, Ford started using the ridge intake while still using up some remaining smooth intakes. I posted a link earlier in this thread showing that #539 (also built on 2/18/93) had a smooth intake. So on 2/18 (or possibly 2/17), Ford began using the ridge intake while still using up a few of the remaining smooth intakes. I'm guessing the last smooth intake went into a Cobra built on 2/18/93.

It may be real difficult to do, but it would be neat to figure out the build number of the first Cobra to have a ridge intake, and the last Cobra to have a smooth intake. Could #516 be the first with the ridge?

Man so cool ! Yah I agree be awesome to find out. But I agree, I don’t think they said for example “ 516 is a new intake style QUIT using the flat side”. I think they assembled what they had left and weren’t exactly numerical by build number. What a cool mystery tho ... here’s a pic of my door sticker it’s indeed 2/93
