Radio Help

Post by goode34 »

Hey Guys,

I had the infamous issue of the radio "popping" whenever you turned the volume up or down. Just the other day, the sound went completely out but the radio still lights up. I was looking at purchasing another radio from rooster or someone on ebay but wanted to ask first...is it the radio that needs replacement or the under the seat amplifier being as though the radio still lights up??? Since I am planning on keeping the stock system, I only wanted to purchase the faulty part and not do a full upgrade or purchase unnecessary parts. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Just a FYI I am not the best with these types of electronics/troubleshooting but can relay the exact procedures needed to correct to an installer :)

Thanks!!!

Shawn

I have two "spare" tape players that make the popping sound when I adjust the volume. For me, it is 100% the radio. I can swap the radios between my two cars and the popping is persistent with the radio, the amps seem fine.

Thanks NV, I will look at getting a new CD player. To remove the radio, is it just a matter of popping the 4 pin holes or do I need a special tool? Do the radio and cubby hole both have to come out? Also once the radio is removed, all I have to do is reconnect the pin connectors?

It's a specific tool but any of these should work.
