agsf32c motocraft plug / this stock plug for 93 cobra w/gt
I am buying a cobra, the guy doesn't know if the heads are original or not. so I had him pull the spark plug.. He gave me agsf32c.
I called the ford dealer, told them I needed some plugs for 93 cobra.
they said it was an awsf32c.
so my question is, does this car have gt40 iron heads or not. I know the spark plug for a standard 5.0L is different.
can someone help me determine what he has.

Just because someone installed plugs that belong in a regular 5.0 doesn't mean you don't have the original heads. Over the years, I've found more parts stores, including Ford parts depo's that have the wrong listings. Saying they both use the same...

Dumb question... Do the GT40 heads on the Cobra require different spark plugs than the E7's on a regular 5.0? I think I used Autolite 25's on my 89 GT which I believe is the same as the Motorcraft units.

Good question. The ORIGINAL Cobra Motorcraft spark plug is AWSF-32C, stock number 434. Ford has replaced this plug with the AGSF-32C which carries a 4122 stock number. The plugs are different for the E engine code found on the run of the mill 5.0L Mustang, which are stock number 450.
The AGSF-32C plug Ford makes now has more thread on it compared to the original. If you want a plug that looks like the original AWSF-32C try the Autolite 764 plug. The regular 5.0L engine does call for the Autolite 25.
IF you have any questions go to your local parts store and ask to see both plugs. You'll notice the difference right away.
BTW, Wal-Mart sells the Autolite 764 plugs in a two pack for $2.18. Not bad, eh? New spark plugs for under $10.

You can get Motorcraft stuff from Wal-Mart now a days.
Just go to the Dealer They are not that crazy on price..
DO NOT use Auolite plugs, they do and will cause driveabilty concerns with the stock Cobra.
I dont think I would run them in a altered Cobra either if it was me.

I was really shocked when I learned Autolite makes Motorcraft plugs for Ford. Ford does not make plugs in house. Remember the old school Mustangs from the mid/late 60's??? Autolite all day long as OE. Next time you go to a car show where vintage Stangs reside look at the Autolite labels under all those hoods.
I have seen it on the old stangs running the points systems.
