OK, guys I've run out of ideas as to what's going on. Original cd player/radio worked before before in terms of sound. But cd player didn't, so I just listened to the radio. Then about a month ago sound went out. Turned volume up and nothing from the speakers. Checked fuses, connections, unplugged and plugged back all connections related to head unit and amp. Still nothing. So I went ahead and bought a head unit with ipod connection from rooster6969. Installed it and still no sound from speakers, I made sure to remove jumper from old unit into the new one. So then a bought a working amp from MPS auto salvage hoping that it would fix it all, still no sound. I haven't got a clue what else I may have missed. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm interested in this topic as I just bought a 93 cobra with the tape/radio unit and have no sound. The previous owner told me he had an aftermarket CD player and amp in it and took it out before the sale and put the original head unit back in, and that it was my amp that was bad. I'll replace the amp and if I come across any of the same issues you're having I'll chime in.
I would like to know what's going on with your system though, so I'm subscribing.

When you say jumper are you meaning the little square block off that goes in the corner of the radio?

yeah make sure the little black square jumper is plugged in the back of the radio.
