Question about my hand brake Assembly

Post by Kilrgt »

I know that the hand brake assembly has never been a solid part in the car, mine i think is way worse then normal, can you all have a look at the vid and pics and tell me if something is wrong , the problem with mine is it seems way way loose then the fox bodies iv had in the past, the only reason i car is because its damaging the rubber gasket and i want to replace it and if the hand brake needs to be replaced ill do that at the same time/

I know photobucket is painfully slow and hope the vid loads.

So what do yall think?

It does look way loose, I would either find a way to tighten that up or replace before you put the new rubber on it.

Yea, that seems excessive!

Is it pulling up to high? or always pulling to the side. (Somehow it doesn't feel right asking this question... lol)

HAHA yea i can see why,

Its pulling to side and its pulling a little too high I think, for the cost of them I think Ill find a new one and replace. Not sure how hard of a job it is but hey its a fox body no jog is real tough on these.

Thanks for the replies guys

If its too high, then you may need new brake pads or your cables are worn (stretched too far)

*** Edit****

Quick question, iv been seeing online that I may have to modify the new handbrake assembly, something about cutting a spring and welding the self
adjustment to the second tooth, can any of you please confirm is this is true??

Thanks All ..again

I found a NOS assembly and will be installing it, it was way too loose for my liking. Thanks for the input guys
