Finally back into a Cobra! Auto transporter questions.....

Post by 15BoostedFX4 »

Hi guys. Newbie here to the forum although a lifetime mustang guy. I'm in the process of finalizing a deal on a 93 Cobra.
I dont have the time or desire right now to drive 6 hours to pickup the car and bring it home so I am looking into transport companies.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I've heard good things of Plycar (Plycor) and American Auto Movers has an A+ with the BBB.

Thanks in advance.

I use Thomas Sunday and have had good experiences with them, from what I have seen you get what you pay for with auto transporters.Another one that I liked that picked up a car that I had sold was Inter-city auto transport.

I have yet to have a bad experience with one of the big guys, this includes, reliable, intercity, plycar, passport, and premier. Had good luck with a couple small guys too. Only somewhat bad experience, was a load that was brokered to swift. Car arrived filthy (was a vert, top down because of a hard tonneau). But it cleaned up, and the redemption was transport from Cali to MA, for only $700.

Used this guy:

http://ultimateautoshipping.com/

He comes off a bit cheesy in his video, but he's very sincere guy, got my black 93' all the way from Florida. He's really good at explaining the whole industry/process.

I called Ted and he called me back to send me a quote.

2 things.
-In his signature, he has the link to his website. The site is down and says to contact the site manager for payment. Bad sign.
-Negative feedback on the BBB site. Horrible experience according to the user.

When was the last time you used them?

So my brother is a car broker and ships cars ALL the time. He's never once had a problem with them. I highly recommend him.

Here's the deal. Most of these companies are nothing more than brokers. They don't even own trucks.

In a nutshell, they take your order and post on a board that the owners of the trucks can access. They'll pick your car up if it lines up with their current route/schedule.

Check out that guy I mentioned, they'll lay out the whole process for you.

I completely agree with you. I called Pat and gave him all the info. Really nice guy with a lot of info. and didn't b.s. around. I gave him my c.c. info. and hes supposed to let me know when he gets a driver with an enclosed trailer. Hoping it gets picked up Monday....

Thanks again!

Awesome, let us know how it goes.

I believe he works with a group of drivers/owners he's familiar with. When he shipped my black car, I was nervous as hell, but he keep me in the loop the entire time. Car arrived a day or two early, was a super easy process.

They did a great job with the move! Picked up the car at 1pm and it was delivered to my house at 10pm that night! He had another red 93 Cobra in the trailer with it. Only that one only had 8,000 miles. I think it was going to Pittsburgh.

Here's a pic of the car on my buddy's lift.
