Potential first Cobra

Ran across a Teal/Leather for sale here locally with 102k miles. Its not on the registry from what I can see (175415 are the last 6 of the VIN). Guy claims he's the 3rd owner and dumped a bunch of money into it recently (fresh paint, misc. weatherstrip, headliner, exhaust, gears, radiator, headlights, etc) i.e. within the past 2 years.

Pictures look like its in good shape, but it almost sounds too good to be true. He's asking $15k. Even with all the work done, is that too much for a >100k mi car with mods and no factory parts to replace or does that not typically matter?

I've only ever owned an 87GT vert and a 91LX coupe, so all the Cobra shopping is new to me.

I'm looking for a weekend hobby car and a fair weather driver, potentially even something to do the Power Tour in. I plan to mod it a little, but not much, and anything I replace I would be keeping the factory part.

Check into the accident history on this one. The underhood pic shows the VIN tags missing on both front fenders. Were they removed or painted over when the car was painted or did something more serious occur?

Yes, check the history.

I dig Teal though. It looks sexy!

Yeah ... in a 1980s 'Miami Vice' sort of way! ;)

Pretty steep if you ask me. Looks like the seats were redone, but the rest of the interior looks pretty well worn. Engine and such look OK, but for the price I would have expected it to be much more detailed/cleaned up.

Ok, that was funny!

I like bold cars. Teal "does it for me!"
