I have a Wolf car cover that I've used for years. It has a strap that I can slide under the middle of the car.

Depends where the car is being stored, I have a fitted dustop cover for my car, no straps.

I used to leave one of my Mustangs at the airport when I went to fly. It's ALWAYS windy at open airports. I had a cover with good elastic, it ended up blowing off. I then got one that had a strap under the middle and I came back to having the front and back twisted off and rubbing. I then bunched-up a bit of the material in the front and back to makeshift a knob that I tied a little rope to. I then secured the front and back under the car and never had a problem again.

California car cover Dustop, was just under $300 with the Cobra logo. Works great, indoor only.

Would it be awkward if I used that in the parking lot at the grocery store?

Now that sounds like a warped version of an old Seinfeld episode! ;)

It would be a definitive answer to the age old question: "Paper or plastic?"

steel tanks are my friends, he has graciously allowed me to keep my car in his warehouse for the time being.

actually its a funny story, we were having dinner 6 months ago and we both started reminiscing about the time we used to drive our fox bodies and I told him I wish I could get another fox body but I didn't have enough space in the garage for it, so I think just to humor me he said if I got a fox body he would let me keep it in his warehouse, so I took him up on his offer :)

as far as the grocery store parking lot, make sure to bring your own power supply

It's possible that this could lead to the 21st century version of having your tires slashed.
