Painting underside of hood

Post by pete3323 »

If I have the underside of my hood painted is it then safe to go without the hood protector? Ive seen plenty of show cars with painted undersides and they look great. Maybe they remove for show?

If you are worried about engine heat and paint, I'll offer this:

I removed the hood insulation off my 750 hp 2011 GT500 a few years ago. I was having some rubbing issues with a couple of my mods. Neither my paint or the white vinyl stripes show any impact after many miles and I drive my Shelby HARD!

You will be fine.

Yeah, but the paint/clearcoat on a 2011 is much better quality than the paint on a '93. If the paint on that hood is still original, I'd be a little more careful.
