Is that a bead weld in the hatch jam?

All the vin tags are present on mine except for the front bumper cover. Carfax and the car itself, neither show signs of a wreck. Where exactly on the bumper was the original vin tag?

Ok, so I went back out there and the front bumper vin tag IS there. I was just looking down at the bumper with the hood open, not looking in the right spot obviously. Thanks for showing me where its located! Now I'm very confident that the car has never been hit.

So upon looking at your pic on my computer and not my phone, I can see that where the metal is in your hatch is not a weld of sorts but maybe just some seam puddy stuff and they spot welded that metal in the crease/bend there? I shined a 500W shop light in there and there's some dirt, and the metal seam looks a little cleaner. no signs of additional welding. I really do think this is a factor sunroof...

but you're positive that all of them came with a "C" under the "S" on the door tag?

I wonder if SVT can confirm this? How do I contact them? website or call them?

You guys are a big help. It feels so good to be back in the scene again. I've been in the Army for 12 years now and with moving across 7 states and 3 deployments, I really haven't had time for my real hobby (though I did just frame up restore a 1954 chevy pickup with my father-in-law). Anyways, I'll have to reorder my MM&FF and 5.0 subscriptions!

The safe bet is that your car's sunroof was installed after the original purchase of the car (probably by a Ford dealer as the roof appears to be a Ford roof). It is very unlikely that a sunroof was installed at the factory and then not included on the door tag and on the window sticker (or charged to the original purchaser). These cars have some oddities from the factory, but I'm guessing that's not what happened here.

As for whether to return it to stock or further modify, I say do whatever makes you happiest. I personally wouldn't spend the $$ to return a Cobra with 118K to stock. Better yet, a few choice mods would make the car an even more enjoyable ride. As for the Corbeaus, that's a no-brainer. They are so superior to the stock seats that I wouldn't even consider switching them out.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking (to continue to make the car more fun to drive). I have always thought that I wanted a higher mileage car so that I wouldn't worry about modifying it, but now that I have it I do also kind of like the originality of it. ha!

I'll probably look into suspension and a new DS to make it a smoother driver.

Back to the sunroof thing, with all the documentation that comes with the car, I can't see the past owners putting in a roof and not keeping the paperwork on that. Whoever put it in, Ford or a dealer, it was done well.

I saw the forum on sunroof cobras, I wonder if there is a breakdown of the vins of those 74 teal/black/sunroof cars? My car isn't in the registry, but where was 1993cobra getting those numbers from?

I'll just ask him.
