Father in law just killed a big bull elk. Were you doing it just for the meet or taxidermy?

Just the meat. If I were doing it for taxi, I screwed up when I blasted the big hole in it!! lol
I work for a custom processing/ slaughterhouse. We process wild game as well as domestic livestock.

I left the Cobra at home in the Garage. I would never expose her to this filth! For the last 2 weeks I didn't drive anything anywhere! I was on location 3 hrs from home. My hrs of operation were 7am - 9pm, so I stay in a motorhome and don't get to go anywhere. Glad to be home!!

Does anyone keep the hide these days?

Just curious, why not just grab the saw-saw when you remove the legs and head.........or is just as easy to pop them off with the knife?

Very few hunters will keep the hide. The cost to tan a hide far exceeds its worth, though I do save a few.
I use the sawzall to split and quarter the carcass, for the legs and the head the knife is faster... usually anyway!
