700 bucks.... Can't even buy tires for that. That would been an easy flip.1993cobra wrote:i could have bought one of those last month decent car all original 85k miles but had all the clear coat pealing for 700.00 i didnt know it was anything special.

They were 1990 LX convertibles that were equipped with the following to differentiate them from other Mustangs - Deep Emerald Green clearcoat metallic paint (code PA); color-keyed body side moldings, fascia moldings and side view mirrors; white leather interior; white convertible top; and 15" GT "turbine" aluminum wheels.
They were not numbered like the Cobras. 4103 were built.
As for the contest ... 7-UP was planning on giving away 30 of these cars at the 1990 NCAA basketball finals in a contest in which a participant sinking a basket from center court was to drive home in one of the cars. At the last minute, the contest was canceled.
The story i heard while back was the contest was canceled because the guy who was in charge of the design or something along that line was called into Desert storm so the car sat incomplete ....so ford took leftover turbines and whatever else was on the shelf and tossed it on to the car to finish it off and be sold ...
