89-106 SSC For Sale MN

Postby whataguy83 » Mon Nov 04, 2013 3:10 pm
I have decided to put my SSC up for sale, I purchased the car from the second owner a little over a year ago. At the time the car had been sitting in storage for around 11 years after an oil filter malfunction bled all of the oil out of the motor when it was on the highway. When I purchased the car the motor had been removed but was still sealed, I spent the next 6 months going through the entire car and having the motor professionally rebuilt. Everything was done right and no corners were cut, I had planned on keeping this car forever and I have all of the receipts for everything that's been done. The Car currently has 65,690 miles on it, I have put around 390 miles on it since the full rebuild.

The only reason that I am selling it is to free up some space and funds to purchase a Viper in the spring. Below is a list of what's been replaced or upgraded although I'm sure that I will miss a few things. To see more pictures of the car click on the flikr link under the photos below.

- Engine Rebuilt by Competition Engines
Forged pistons and rods (had intended on running a blower in the future)
Ford Racing E303 cam
Comp hardened push rods
Trick Flow bee hive valve spring kit
Full valve job
Ford racing oil and water pump
Ford racing timing chain
Ford racing lifters

- Ford Motor Sport spark plug wires (Champion wires are included with the car)
- Ford Motor sports off road h pipe
- Ford Racing 24lb Blue top injectors
- Pro M MAF
- Ford OE flywheel
- King cobra clutch
- Maximum Motorsports adjustable cable/quadrant
- Prothane motor and trans mounts
- Prothane rack and tranny cross member bushings
- Custom dynomax stainless exhaust system (factory cat back with the trumpet tips comes with the car)
- Negative and positive battery cables along with a new battery
- Hood bumper/adjuster set
- Rear hatch struts
- Rear speaker enclosure material has been replaced with NOS correct material
- Any and all rubber hoses and gaskets were replaced including AC system (AC has been converted but has not been recharged)
- Fuel system completely drained and pump was replaced along with strainer, fuel filter, o ring/lock ring, fuel neck grommet, and vapor valve grommet
- Brake system was fully flushed and front lines were replaced with braided

- Saleen pedal kit

The car is in very good shape, all original paint and still has the laser etch lines from the factory on the sides of the car. There are no dings or dents that I have come across, the adjustable suspension still works and all of the original SSC items are present and accounted for with the exception of the radio. In the mid to late nineties the radio was stolen and replaced with a nice pioneer unit, silver lining is the thieves broke out one of the quarter windows so it was replaced and still looks brand new. The other quarter window is showing its age a bit but still looks very good.

In my eyes there are only a few things keeping this car from being mint. The front lower fascia could stand to be repainted along with the gray door moldings. The front DP5's are cracking this shouldn't be a huge shock to most people but it is something that will need to be addressed. I do have all of the center caps and they are included with the car. The tires are correct general 2000Z tires and have tons of tread but are old and hard. The ash tray door spring popped off, if I have time this will be fixed before the car is sold. The interior is in very good shape but in order to be perfect the seats and steering wheel would need some restoring/dye, but there are no rips or other defects.

Asking $16000

Here is what I know, most all of the Saleen specific parts are there which is a plus.Dp wheels always crack at some point and can be difficult to repair, the positive these cars look better with speedlines or sterns anyway but come with a price.Nice low mileage cars have been selling in the $20k-$27k area and the ones needing restored in the $8k-$10k range. These cars are fun to drive!!! Good luck

That would be a good deal if you could get it bought for that, but I am guessing it will take more than that to buy it.

Yes they came with some mods,if I remember correctly around 300 hp rating. These were the first cars that really received a major modification over a factory Saleen. For being built in 89 they were pretty impressive cars.

Called the owner this a.m., still haven't received a call back. I hope to hear from him...I like this ride!
Was actually looking for a red '86 Saleen when I stumbled upon this. So if anyone knows of a red '86 and I don't get anywhere with this car please let me know.
