If this is a preproduction what date marked actual production?

I believe regular Cobra production begin in late December 1992 and ran until late June 1993.

Some more info for all you Cobra trivia buffs -

Assembly of the 1st '93 Cobra for a customer (Cobra #19) began on 12/17/92 and assembly of the final '93 Cobra began on 6/28/93 (and anyone who checks this site regularly knows who owns #4993).

Another interesting fact ... during the '93 model year, the Dearborn assembly plant produced between 48 and 52 Mustangs per hour. However, the Cobra was built at a rate of four cars per hour.

Where did you find this info? So if pre #19 was not sold to the public how did they eventually find their way in the publics hands?

Also, Cobras #1 thru #18 were pre-production. #19 was the first one built for sale to the public. And some of the 18 pre-production models made their way into the public's hands as is obvious from this website.

Your svt cert shows the build date of your "pre-production" car as that car was not avail. to the public when first built. As can be seen from one of the pics you posted on Autotrader, the additional 3/93 sticker placed over the 10/92 on the VIN door tag of your car indicates that the car was made available to the public in 3/93 even though it was manufactured in 10/92.

Mine has the same build date as #14 but the carfax says it wasn't registered by anyone other than Ford motor company til 1994 so I don't think mine was ever sold to the public new, I think a ford rep. Got tired of it and sold it private party to someone in north carolina

I would guess that most, if not all, of the pre-production Cobras that were not kept or destroyed by Ford ended up in the public's hands in this way or something similar rather than direct sale thru a dealer.

Ford tends to do some weird things with cars...maybe those preproduction cars were held onto for some reason..case in point.. an 1993 SSP that I recently purchased from a private party was actually a Ford TEST CAR and bucked as car number 2.. I recieved the Marti Report to confirm this and here is the strange part according to the report and the car fax on the coupe.. it was in Fords hands until 1996... Thats right.. then it was sold at auction through the dealer network with only 1600 miles on it...crazy stuff... Oh yea its Calypso Green Met with a blk interior..
