Wheel Paint

Post by jstanley55 »

I know there's a thread on here with the info of where to get the paint and clear for our wheels but I can't find it. Anyone have the info on where to order the paint from?

The wheels are painted with this: PPG Deltron Base Coat (DBC) 33896 Sterling Silver with a clear top coat. You can get it in spray cans or by the pint for spray gun here:

APS Tower Paint Company, Inc.
2120 West Nordale Drive
Appleton, Wisconsin USA 54914
920.731.2772

I did 4 wheels with two cans of silver and two cans clear for about $80.00
Sanded the wheels then used self etching primer, painted silver the next day, than clear the day after that.
Found it.

No. Doing a second set. The ones on it are comp grey. Some days I like them some days I don't.
I'd buy noslo's if I was closer that's a good deal.

LSR has reproduction caps for $30. Not sure if you want originals or not.

I'd like originals but would be happy with these until I found some. Problem is they are out of stock for an undisclosed duration.

Hard to say man...might look good. I didn't like my current wheels on my black as much as on my red car. Not enough contrast or something.
There's a thread on here somewhere with all types of black wheel images. I tried to dig it up for you but I don't have enough patience for that shit :)

So started to restore my 2nd set of wheels. Just got them back from the blaster and fixing the light rash on a few of them tonight. Paint is on the way but here's my question. I didn't look to close at them before having them blasted and can't remember if the finish on
the inside is raw aluminum (which is my guess) or paint with no clear or...???

J on the rim section it looks like it has paint and some clear, now the back casting section no. I would paint and clear the rim section pretty well, which will make it easier to clean in the future. Here are a few pictures of some stock wheels.

Thanks Will. Big help. It kinda looks like primer cleared form the pic. Doesn't look to have metallic like the rim color. Regardless like you suggested I think I'm just going to spray color and clear on the entir wheel.

Can you paint the wheels without taking the tires off? Anyone do it this way? I know it sounds half-ass but it would save two trips to the tire shop.
