Underhood and underbody cleaning

Post by trackpilot »

How do you guys clean the underhood and underneath the car?
I'm assuming pressure washer. But what exactly do you use with it? And what settings? I'm jealous of all the clean underbodies that i see.

ahh ok that might take awhile... lol
Same with the underhood i'm assuming?
What do you use? Simple Green?

I went to Home Depot today and was eyeing the pressure washers since i need to do my driveway. But i was wondering if that was what you guys used to clean the rest of your car. Hence the question.

i stay away from pressure washers, ever since i did my nissan maxima like 8 years ago, hit a TINY pin hole in the paint and it blew out a paint chip larger than a quarter... ever since then, i stay away from pressure washers on my cars... and just use for my siding/windows on my house.

Anyone else with tips? I really want to do this soon. I've got 5 days off in a row to kill.
DB- Do you recommend Simple Green? I was at BJ's yesterday and saw they sell a gallon of it with a spray bottle for $10. Just not sure if that stuff leaves a sticky residue or what?

Simple Green shouldn't leave any residue. I use it to clean just about everything from shoes, to boat interior and my kids toys. That stuff is great and it hasn't damaged anything I've ever used it on.

Under the hood it should be fine but I don't know if its got the power to work for heavy road grime. It might, I just never used it on anything really greasy or caked with crap.

Well my car isn't really that dirty. It was actually pretty spotless when i bought it. But i've gotten caught in a few rainshowers so it's a lil dirty now.

yeah i dont see a problem with that.. do it up. take before/after pics

just do me a favor and be CAREFUL using a power washer, avoid using the right jet stream... it can blow out a paint chip smaller than a pen dot...
