I'm almost positive his was Gloss black. One other thing we discussed was the "stock" color of the radiator supports. Were they black from the factory? :pop:

Radiator support brackets are black from the factory, not body color.

Uh oh ... is it possible DB's upper door paint is not factory correct?!? Oh, the horror!!
Post those pics DB and any other owners of a red Cobra. Let's get to the bottom of this. 8)

That's what we're trying to find out. We know blacks and teals had the dark gray and it would be odd if Ford did the reds differently, but it's certainly possible.

Mine dont have dark grey they are semi gloss black just like the window trim if it looks gray then its possibly faded.

Based on your signature, the only production Cobra you have for comparison of upper door paint is your teal. You can't assume what's on your pre-production and your '93 LX are what Ford put on the '93 Cobras.

For example, my black '89 GT had black upper door paint that matched the window trim and is not the same as my '93 Cobra. I also know that my Cobra's upper door paint is not faded - it's dark gray as shown in the pics. And the pic of Esco's teal certainly looks like his upper door paint is dark gray as well. (Can you confirm this, bdecoy?)

Hopefully, we'll get some more responses and pics from fellow registry members on this one.

Mine seems to be semi-gloss black also.

Thanks, 93N8. Based on the door pics so far, it looks like the blacks and teals had dark gray upper door paint and the reds had black. (Good news, DB. ;) )

My teal is semi gloss black just like my red car. Any why would I look at my LX it doesnt even have upper doors. I've only owned about 300 fox cars with 50 or so being Cobras so I think I've got a pretty good idea of what I'm looking at.

I don't have a pic but I'll take one this weekend. However, my teal looks gray and red is black. Pretty sure the red has been painted so not 100% sure its original. Reason i started this thread.
Pics to come Sat when I'm back home.

Never said you didn't. And since you're clearly familiar w/Fords, you know how there are lots of production differences among the various Mustang models. Hence, my question as to whether what's on the pre-production is the same as the production models.

Like I said before, hopefully we'll get more door pics on this one as I'm sure I don't own the only black with dark gray upper door paint. As they say - a picture is worth a thousand words.

As for my comment on your LX convertible, that was clearly :smokin:. Although if it had upper door frames, they'd be dark gray.
