Rear brake question

So I went to do what is usually a simple job tonight (rear pads and rotors) and ran into an issue. I can't for the life of me get the pads to go in with the stock shims. Is there some trick i'm missing? The new pads seem to be just a slight bit taller which I'm assuming is the issue but they are correct for 93 cobra. Figure easy fix is try a different brand but thought I'd check here first.

One more question while I'm at it... The hat on the rotor is about a 1/4" taller but everything clears when I set it on so should be ok, right?

look for my old posts on brakes titled "brake question" I had the same problem, just filed the end of the pads down a little worked perfectly

Cool. I thought about that too but already sprayed the bake so all the filing would have stuck to it. Prob what I'll do though. Thanks man!

No name on the box and I've had them a while so can't recall. But everything clears so I don't see why there would be an issue.
