check oil light

Post by vinchez78 »

Went to crank the car up and noticed my check oil light stayed on, I then checked the dip stick and oil level is full, I have normal oil pressure from the gauge, so wtf is it? And I don't smell any oil burning

Agreed. Also, make sure you're checking your oil when the engine is warm and the car is on a level surface to get the most accurate reading on the dipstick.

Thanks, I cranked it up again and light came on then turned off, thinking its a sensor issue too, where is the sensor located and how much to replace?

It's the one in the side of the oil pan.

Screws into the block just in front of the oil filter, might have to buy a socket to remove and replace. Quick easy fix for you to do.

That's the oil pressure sending unit Will. The low oil sending unit is the large one in the side of the pan.

Ok the first post clearly says pressure on gauge is fine, was a long night at work.

Have also seen a case of the wiring coming off the sensor getting rubbed to the point of insulation coming off of it. And causing the same thing to happen. Might want to check on that too.
