New Cobra owner and need help!
New Cobra owner and need help!
I just purchased a 93 with 32k miles. The care is mint condition and runs great. When I looked at the back of the intake by the firewall I noticed some fluids. There is an open hole in the back of the intake so took some pictures to see if you all can help let me know what this is? What do I need to do to fix it?
thanks,
Jay

Thanks Brett!
I found one vacuum line in red and it was tucked under the intake not hooked up to anything. I put my hand down to feel for the other section and it seems to have a plug on it.
Do I need to hook up the "T" and add the two other lines or can I just add the line in red to the new line with the missing pieces to cover the hole? Maybe they had a K&N Filter plug instead of a line.

It's very important to put it back the way it's designed to work. So, it will relieve and circulate the crank case pressure correctly during all operating conditions. It could also have an effect on your emissions too. The car may or may not pass state emissions.
Re: New Cobra owner and need help!
Ok, will do!
Do you recommend getting all the parts from a Ford Dealer? I can check with my local auto parts store as well.
Thanks again for your time!
Thanks,
Jay

Re: New Cobra owner and need help!
You can try. Not sure if your local dealer still will have stock on somthing like that.
Also, you can try Nappa, or nationally known auto parts stores.
If, your not concern about being 100% OE with the car. You can just take the part of the hose you have now, run to your local auto parts store. They will try to match the diameter the best they can, and you could custom fit it back together and be done with it. The auto parts store should have the PCV kit, pictured above in stock also, especially NAPPA.

I called NAPPA and Autozone, they both mentioned the filter is not needed. I am not sure if something changed recently? They did not have any kits in their system.
Has anyone else had to replace their PCV and did not use the filter?

Re: New Cobra owner and need help!
Yeah the filter may not be necessary, any auto parts store should have bulk hose , "T" fittings, and a pcv valve. as for the rubber grommet most stores have a "help" parts section with all kinds of parts and I bet they have the grommet in that section.ask for Doorman Help! Part # 42327 around 4 bucks the screen filter is part number 47064 also foreman help.
Re: New Cobra owner and need help!
The filter is a puck shaped ball of bunched up wire mesh in a cage. Any Ford car or truck with this type of intake at the boneyard has one, pull it out with a pick or long nose pliers, clean by soaking in gasoline or solvent. Purpose it to catch larger droplets of oil so the pcv doesn't suck them back into the intake and burn them off, leading to increased oil consumption. Do use one.

ehh...Id take what any of those jokers at autozone/Napa say with a grain of salt. Id use the filter, like was said, it prevents larger amounts of oil from entering your intake.93SATX wrote:I called NAPPA and Autozone, they both mentioned the filter is not needed. Ford for sure does not make the pre-formed vacuum line your looking for...just kind of went through the same thing with my car. I ordered the LRS PCV http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/ite ... -Valve-Kit(not cheapest but convenient at the time) kit and bought 2 feet of 3/8" vacuum hose with a 3/8" 'T' fitting. Copied the routing pic from above and put the upper back on. Works perfect.
EGR and FP Regulator will use a smaller hose but the 3/8" will cover everything else.
Re: New Cobra owner and need help!

Welcome to the site Jay, try a dealership. I bought the grommet, pcv valve, and the screen a few months back at a local ford dealership.
