I put my float charger on it this morning, and it almost started when I got home, just 10 hrs charging. I think that if I leave the charger on over night, it will probably start in the morning.
I think what happened is, there is a Viper alarm on the car, and with it being parked since September 15th, and me not disconnecting the battery, the alarm ran the battery dead! I think that the battery is in good condition still, so as long as it will take the charge, I will keep it.

Do any of you guys that don't drive your cobras on a regular basis ever have issues with your battery, or are you smarter than me and you disconnect it prior to being parked for a period of time? :pat:

Do you have to disconnect the battery to allow the tender to work?
I have to disconnect the battery for my float charger to work, which sucks because then I have to reset the clock and all my presets on the radio.

No, not at all. Just connect Pos. & Neg. & plug it in. It's that easy.

Battery Tender is a brand name for a float charger. I've run float chargers on three of my cars for years, all with Optima batteries. I never disconnect the batteries, and all are fine. The one in the Ranchero is almost 12 years old, the one in the Cobra is seven.

My float charger is a POS from harbor freight. It works, but like I said, not while the battery is connected for some reason. I don't normally leave it parked long enough to worry about it. I'll probably check into a better float charger anyway, just in case!

Like this one? It's what I use and does a great job. Orielly stocks them. Pretty sure db uses the same one as I think he's the one that recommended it to me.
