New garage opinions

Post by buddha »

OK guys, lets here what your ideal setup would be with a 30 X 40 dimensions would be. For example:

2 single doors running across the front, with 40 foot depth
3 single doors running across the front, with 30 foot depth
Or something completely differ altogether?

Finalizing a few things with a builder, just trying to figure out what the hell I want. I know plenty of guys with 30 X 40's and they don't have any problems with room (or filling them up), but not sure how I really want to go with it. Basically need to house 2 Mustangs, full size truck, riding lawnmower, and of course my toolbox, etc.

Totally a first world problem, as anything will really work, just looking for a different set of eyes/opinions. :pop:

My garage is 20' x 20' and has 1 door, fits 2 cars. In my case, 1 Cobra and 1 Motorcycle, a go-cart, 3 bicycles, work bench, tool box, and some other misc. and it is full. Lol
I personally would go with the 30' depth. As far as doors and placement, that's a choice I would have a hard time with myself. I like small doors myself, like my vehicles own private door. I wish I had your problem!

I'm getting ready to do a 40 x 50 , 1 walk through door, 2 overhead doors 10 ft wide on the 50 ft wall with a 25ft awning over thosel. Then 1 or 2 more on the opposite wall at a later time to allow driving through, and to allow a breeze.

I have a 24' x 30' and the single doors are on the 24' side, really wished I had a little more room on the sides of the cars. Really kinda depends on how you are going to setup shop inside.

This is how fast you can fill a 30 x 40:

Car dimensions are accurate, as is the F-150.

Mine was 36x40 and a lift in the center stall with a 12 foot ceiling which allows clear floor lift with overhead hydraulics. Make sure you have the full size single doors not the sevens. Just my opinion. See attached: Oldernu

Pickup trucks with mirrors and old age bad eye-sight have left a few marks around smaller doors. By full size I mean 9 wide by 8 high. My center door was 10 high. Oldernu

This would be my ideal garage Buddha, two double size garage doors with a entry door. The picture below is a 30x40x10. But, I would go with a least a 12 foot high ceiling tho, for a possible lift install.

I would definitely go with the double wide doors. IMO. You just never know when you will need the extra room to back a trailer in the garage for maintenance possibly, or a scenario when you need to push a car out of the garage with driver side door open for someone to help steer, etc.. I think singles are more for those who just store their cars.

Mine is I believe my interior room is 43x33 deep with two doors. I think wider is better but do wish it was a little deeper sometimes.
