Possible starter problem
Possible starter problem
I'm getting the dreaded click sounds when I attempt to crank her up, thinking it's the starter but I'm taking it to auto zone to make sure before I drop cash on a new starter, how long do solenoids last? , I replaced a motorcraft one bout two years ago

Click click click... my guess is a battery.
Re: Possible starter problem
Well the wife actually jump started it, I took it home and I started it and it did start right up, I'll have the guys at auto zone hook it up to their machine tomorrow see what the deal is

Re: Possible starter problem
The transition of the weather always makes these kinda issues arise, probably just the battery. Make sure you park it facing down hill and pop the clutch.

Not exactly sure P, when I bought the cobra more than two years ago the battery "looked" new, I know that's not saying muchescogt wrote:How old is the battery?vinchez78 wrote:Well the wife actually jump started it, I took it home and I started it and it did start right up, I'll have the guys at auto zone hook it up to their machine tomorrow see what the deal is

Vincent, with that driveway you could have just "down-hill" started it.....vinchez78 wrote:Yes, had to park it in the garage overnight and sure enough, had to jump start it this morningWillyB93 wrote:The transition of the weather always makes these kinda issues arise, probably just the battery. Time for a new battery.

Re: Possible starter problem
Yes sir, that's what I meant, came out the garage and on the downhill, popped the clutch and started, so the clicking sounds doesn't necessarily mean that the starter has gone bad, the battery could be the culprit? I hope so, would an optima battery last as long as they say it does or stick with the motorcraft? Hmm...Romo93 wrote:Vincent, with that driveway you could have just "down-hill" started it.....vinchez78 wrote:Yes, had to park it in the garage overnight and sure enough, had to jump start it this morningWillyB93 wrote:The transition of the weather always makes these kinda issues arise, probably just the battery. For a daily driver go with your budget... just have the battery tested to be positive that's your problem.
