Oil

Post by JohnLynch »

I thought this thread was on here but what kind of oil weight are you all using?

5W30 or 10W30?

Of all places, you'd think a Ford dealer would use what is specified in the car's owners manual.

They probably just used what's on tap, let alone knowing what weight is supposed to be used.

You'll be fine john. Not that big of a difference. 5/30 is pretty typical for newer cars so as Will said I'm sure it's what they had on tap.

Agreed that 5W30 won't hurt the car at all. However, the "that's what they had on tap" excuse is :bs: especially at a Ford dealer.

Thanks for the input guys. I did read up on 10W-30 and it said its good for colder climates. Do you think they called for this at the factory to be safe?

So at the dealerships they don't open qts of oil and pour it in they have an oil keg lol so to speak? They charged me for 5 qts of Mobile 1 5W-30. I brought my own FL-1A oil filter and they put it on but they said they do have those oil filters in stock for future info.
