2000 R

Post by Brookse »

Quick question: Does anyone make a supercharger for this car? I have a line on this car I'm looking to buy, but would like to know if a SC is available, and I haven't had any luck to date. If not, I guess NOS would be the way to go. Thanks for any help.

I don't think anyone makes a bolt on SC kit for the 2000R, I have seen on with a Turbo kit, however those motors are not built to take boost at all. So I don't think I would spend 40K on a car and have to build a motor.

I've seen a Pro Charger and a Vortech set up on them. Call them and see if they have any suggestions. You will do "some" modification. Below is a link from SVTP with a break down on a modded R with a Vortech. I assume you are looking to do some straightline stuff with the NOS reference? You will need to alter the suspension also to get anywhere with that on an R. Food for thought....

Thanks for the info guys.

The 2000R is a really neat car but to trade my 93 Cobra for it (I don't need two summer cars), I'd need something more than 385hp despite the great times this car puts down stock. Without a SC available, I figure NOS would do the trick as I want a car that doesn't need any more special attention than a Focus - start it, it runs, and runs well. And yes, straight line performance is the issue as the car already goes 1G sideways

So a $40,000 car plus a $2,000 NOS kit = 500 horsepower and low 12s - if it hooked? Not bad at all I think.

Let me ask you all, if you had this car, what would you do to it, and don't saying nothing as that just wouldn't happen - NOS at least.

Thank you.

I would SC, but NOS would obviously be more economical and possibly even more fun. Drive one first and get the feel. Car is very docile and stable till it hits its power band. I couldn't imagine what the additional power adder would do at that point. Without a serious tire I think the power adders would be useless in the first 3 gears at peak.
