2000 R gets its first oil change (maybe).

Post by Goose17 »

I changed oil on the R today. It may have been its first oil change, not sure...? I put the factory spec Mobil 15W-50 back in it. It's thick stuff!

Funny, but the 00R is not like the 93 Cobras. The 00R is fitted with a bunch of "aftermarket parts." Ford just used a regular Motorcraft filter off the shelf. It's not like the special markings of the 93. The one I bought as a replacement was identical to the one that was on the car.

I actually enjoy them all for different reasons. The 93 is the most benign (and oldest of the bunch). I baby it because it's on it's original tires. It just comes out for some exercise periodically. I do like the "time capsule effect" that the car is though. The 04 Mystichrome is fun with the supercharger and is great when the weather is not too hot or cold with the top down. The wild paint is an eye catcher and gets lots of attention when it is out and about. The 750 hp Shelby gets driven the most and is just stupid fun on the open road. It is gussied-up and gets a rock star welcome in my rural town I live in. The Cobra R is driven the least, but I'd have to call it my favorite car. It is full-time race car and twitchy. The Shelby has much more power, but it is smooth and refined compared to the R. The R never lets you forget that it's a track focused car and I dig that. I like the fact that most people have never seen one in person as well. Most people have no idea what it is, so it slips through town more easily than the Shelby or Mystichrome Terminator does.

As for "most fun to drive," the power of the Shelby is intoxicating. It is on par with the pure fun the R is to drive. I'd have to declare a tie between the 2 very different cars.

I am going to have to come up there and drive them all myself to verify your statements. It's all in the name of research.
