Red on Grey Leather - 8700 miles

Post by cobra4077 »

Never thought I would sell it but unfortunately I must part with my Cobra I just got about a month ago. I bought a 68 Mustang Fastback GT and need the funds to restore it. Anyway here are the details.

Car number 4077, red with opal grey leather interior, 4way power seat, rear defroster and AM/FM Cassette. No sunroof. Currently has 8,700 original miles. 100% stock, the only thing not original is a new Motocraft Battery and the Oil and Filter. Everything else is original including tires. This car was sold By Valley Ford in Yakima Washington. The original owner opted to have the dealership undercoat it. Only the floors and gas tank, not the front supension. Wish it had not been done but it is what it is.

The car was listed on EBay in June and had some discussion here about the miles. The miles are correct. An emissions check station reported the miles on 8/13/2005 at 84,048. The correct miles were 8,448. It was a common problem in our state which is why they no longer record miles! I sent the paper work to Car Fax and they corrected the error within a week. I am STILL waiting for Auto Check to make the correction. Not sure what the problem is with that company! I also have a signed Odometer statement from the previous owner. Of course the car itself testifies to the mileage!

I have priced it at $22K which seems reasonable based on other cars listed here. I just listed it on my local Craig's list at this point. Here is the link.

I do have additional photos but would prefer you contact me first with any questions. The car is located near Tacoma, Washington.

Thanks

Yes, I do hate to sell it but my heart is in the classics. Dissappointed in the lack of response. Only one phone call from my Craig's List ad and none from this forum. Is the economy just that bad?

It'll sell, it will just take a while. Everything is hard to sell these days.

I like to say it like this, people have money just waiting for the right time to buy things. If the car had cloth and a sunroof, I would have considered it over a black car. Just give it some time, or put it on ebay as a classified ad to attract more attention.

Ya, it's still sucking wind, and like I've said to a lot of the other guys on the boards, a lot of guys are moving into the newer Mustangs. Who can blame them with all the added creature comforts and way more HP, especially in the Cobra/Shelby models.

To Willy's point, give Fleabay a shot. They've revamped the fees for selling a car to the sellers favor and you'll get a lot more attention.

Now on EBay

Post by cobra4077 »

I just put the car up on EBay. Reserve is less than asking price here so someone is going to get a good deal.

I remember something along those lines as well from when, I believe, it was on ebay earlier this year.

You are correct. The previous owner bought it in 1999 from a local Auto Auction with 3637 miles. The story is the original owner had about 60 collectible cars that were auctioned off. Apparently he used funds aquired illegaly - not sure if it was drugs or a ponzi scheme.

It was on EBay back in June. The car was 2 miles from my place which is why I bought it. I fully intended to keep it but as I said originally I need the funds to restore my 68 GT Fastback.

Anyone here interested in making an offer? The EBay auction ends on Sunday. It is at $18,001.99 right now- very close to the reserve. Someone is going to get a great deal.
