1993 Teal/Black Cobra #191 $24,500 CA.

Post by Rob_stylez »

If only I could pick this up
__________________________________________________________________
I have decided to sell my 93 Cobra after owning it for close to 20 years. The car is #191 of 4993, teal with black interior and NO sunroof. This is the rarest color combo with only 185 made. The options include the power driver’s seat and rear window defroster (no leather, no sunroof and no CD player). It is also an early production car that features the flat sided upper intake. It is believed that the first 300 or so cars came with this style upper intake that did not have the casting ridge on the right side.

The car was sold new at Mills Ford in Anaheim, CA and has lived in Southern CA it’s entire life. I am the second owner and purchased it from the original owner on 12/13/97 with 36,946 miles. The car currently has 65,539 miles. It is a true survivor and in immaculate condition. The car has been garaged and covered since new. It has never been in any type of accident, it has never had any paint or body work and has 100% original paint that is near perfect. The car has zero door dings, the paint has been regularly clay barred, hand polished and waxed, shines like new and is as smooth as glass. The interior is perfect and looks new. The engine compartment and undercarriage are spotless. There has been no eating, drinking, smoking, pets or kids inside the car. No one has ever even sat in the back seat. The spare tire and jack are included and have never been used. There are no scratches underneath the front bumper. The pinch welds are perfect and have never had a jack placed on them.

The car is 100% original except for Tokico “blue” shocks and struts that were installed 500 miles ago and a Motorcraft battery that I installed on 4/27/17. When I purchased the car I replaced the original spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor with original Ford replacements, and I replaced the spark plugs wires with Ford Motorsport wires. I kept the original date coded wires and they will go with the car. I kept the original cap and rotor and will include them as well. I have installed a Moroso fenderwell intake with a K&N filter but am including the original airbox with the car. Besides regular maintenance, the car has NEVER had or needed any type of repair whatsoever. It has been properly maintained it’s entire life. Within the last 1k miles I have changed the transmission fluid and radiator fluid. I have always changed the engine oil every 3k miles and have only used factory fluid and filters. The car passed a CA emissions test on 5/6/17 and is registered until May of 2018.

The wheels and tires are a NOS set with factory correct Goodyear Gatorbacks that have less than 2k miles on them. They are flawless and in perfect condition. The balancing weights are mounted on the inside of the wheels. The center caps are included and are in mint condition. I have never installed them on the new wheels because I like the look without them. I also have the original set of wheels (no tires) in perfect condition that I will sell for an additional price if the buyer of the car wants an extra set.

I have a lot of paperwork that goes with the car including the original SVT certificate, owner’s manual, brochures and service records. I have kept everything since I’ve owned the car and will pass it along to the new owner. Unfortunately, I do not have the original window sticker. The window sticker pictured is a reproduction but contains the original specs for this car.

In an effort to honestly represent this car, I am going point out the flaws I am aware of:

Exterior:

There is a rock chip on the grill insert.

There is a mark on the fender lip on the driver’s side front fender. You can see my finger pointing to it in the pic.

There is a rock chip underneath the driver’s side fog lamp.

There is a scratch on the driver’s side, side skirt. I am including a mint original Ford side skirt that I purchased years ago from a totaled teal cobra.

There is what I would describe as very fine “spider” cracking on the nose of the hood, above the grill insert. I’ve seen this on other 93 cobra’s but don’t know what causes it. It’s very hard to see and photograph but is somewhat visible in the pics. You have to get really close and look at an angle to see it.

Mechanical:

The original factory radio recently stopped working. It doesn’t turn on. I am including a brand new, in the box, NOS radio with the correct 93 part number.

The door lock actuators are weak and will need to be replaced.

The AC is not very cold and will need to be recharged.

The hatch struts are weak and could be changed.

Other than that, the car has no known issues, it runs and drives like new, shifts perfect, the brakes are strong, and it needs nothing. It get’s compliments every time I take it out.

I am car enthusiast and a huge fan of fox body mustangs. I never thought I would sell this car but I have enjoyed it for many years and have decided to let it go. That being said, I am in no rush to sell and will ignore lowball offers. I have tried to represent this car as accurately and honestly as I can. I have no doubt that the next owner will not be disappointed and will enjoy the car as much as I have. There probably aren’t too many 93 cobra’s out there that are this nice. Many have been driven hard, modified, beat up or wrecked and put back together. This car has been extremely well cared for since new and it shows. Being a southern CA car that has been garaged since new it has lived a very comfortable life. I am also including a custom made $400 California Car Cover Company car cover. I have only driven this car on nice days, weekends and to car shows and cruises. It has never been driven hard or abused in any way. I have never driven it in the rain and even the undercarriage is spotless. It is one of the few unmolested, stock, original 93 cobra’s left.

I am asking $24,500.
The car is located in Thousand Oaks, CA

Please PM me with any questions.

I drove #194 Teal/Black to work yesterday. Hard top, flat side intake just like this car. 52k on the clock. It gets driven about 300 miles a year.
It would take way more than $18k to move mine to a new home. Where else can you find one to replace it? There will come a day when the intake will matter on price.

Intake? Meh, doubt it. It will always be mileage, color combo, condition. Now if you had a non-clear car..........

To your point though, somebody would have to pay me a mint to even think about selling my black/black car. Way more than it's currently worth before I'd even raise an eyebrow.

Id pay 18k for this car in a heartbeat... I just sold a teal/grey cloth with 84k miles for 17k last month. It was clean but judging by the pics not near as nice as this car is. Id say its and easy 20k any day of the week and since he's not pressed to sell I bet he ends up getting close to his price eventually. Don't underestimate the power of teal/black.

This car has quite a bit going for it...no sunroof, no undercoat, documentation, California car, no front plate bracket, early intake, most desirable color exterior and interior. I hope he gets his price. Car looks quite nice.

Look closer. The car had a front plate bracket on it at one time. Such a shame. I hate those holes with a passion.

Front bumper holes ... oh my! This bucket of bolts is worth no more than $15K!! ;)

In all seriousness, this appears to be a very well-maintained car in very good condition with a very ambitious asking price. Regardless of the early intake, teal/black, paperwork, etc., the car is lightly modified, needs some minor repairs, has typical Ford "early 90s" paint issues, and has 65K miles. The asking price is more in line with a much lower mile car in pristine condition. Based on the upward trend in 93 Cobra prices, and the hype that surrounds a "teal/black" Cobra, the asking price is not surprising, but it's also a good thing the seller is in no rush to sell. That being said, I would love to see a car like this go for close to $24K.
