In 2001 the car was about 32 year old but the price on the car was nearly 9 times its original value and well we know what a nice boss 302 is going for now (30 maybe 35 times is value if its a real nice restored or original car) Now think about foxes, they are almost 25years old very soon they will hit the 30 year mark. Can we say that even the nicest and cleanest or best restored foxes could bring even 8 or 9 times their original value. Is it that perhaps they are still way underpriced? even a factory sc saleen can be had in the mid 40s right now, thats about maybe 2 times the original value,, the only fox I know that has really skyrocketed in price and might be able to make the 8-9 times the value is the SA10 saleen which I almost bought 10 years ago also (don't even get me started on that story) even a the best cobra R with no miles can be had for about 70K thats what 3 times the original value? something to thing about......

I don't think history will repeat itself in this case, dollar for dollar.

Back then, guys bought them, drove the crap out of them, and then moved onto the next big thing. Mustangs and Camaros were the norm and nobody thought twice. They ended up in the junk yard or crusher.

Fast forward to the late 80's and 90's and car guys saw was going on with their old hot rods in terms of rarity and prices,so they started to buy cars not to drive, but to keep as an investment. That mindset continued and still does today. The only problem with that is it's more than just one or two guys doing it. Just look at the 93 Cobra for instance. I've seen more sub 1000 mile cars I can count on both hands, and those are the only ones I know about. I'm sure there are plenty others under wraps as well. How many 60's or 70's muscle cars do you know of with that kind of pedigree om terms of no miles? The fact is, it's all about supply and demand and I think there will always be more supply of the "newer" muscle cars of our generation, keeping the prices down.

At this point, it's merely inflation and the Mecum/BJ auctions driving the prices.

I think this may be the car that was for sale on Corral for a while that had the dog chewed up molding and the battery acid damage on the fender and bumper. If so it had had paint work.

That car is located about an hour from me. It actually has 62 miles on it last I heard. My buddy went over and made them an offer on it a while back.

There is another black one within 20 miles of that car with the damaged bumper that was put on blocks new and hadn't moved since.

Both are close to the Huntington, WV area.

No I'm pretty sure the Mecum car is a different car.

I think the sale of this car is similar to the "Collins" sales back in January, where they were so far over any other comps in the marketplace, it really doesn't have any relevance to the current market.

I agree with 69boss, that the time is coming for these cars that "we" (40ish year olds), are revisiting the cars we grew up with, now with the means to aquire them. As of course time goes by, cars are used up, crashed, modded etc, a premium is placed on the cream of the crop. Certainly the leaders of the appreciation are the SA10, and the R. Others like the SAAC, Cobra, summer, and SSC's have shown nice advances. I already regret not buying an R a couple years ago, today, seems like a $10-20k mistake.

Car was originally sold out of Wisconsin, maybe someone can run the Vin to see where it was hidden.

Stuntmanmike you should be able to get top dollar for that car. I would post in here for sale first if you decide to sell.
