Finally got her home!

Post by pt88lx »

After about a 2 month search, I found a car that fit my original criteria, and it was close enough to see in person and drive home. I ended up getting #3723 from Seattle. It was a 2 owner car with all documentation and receipts. All vins are in place including rear bumper skin....was previously un sure if it was the same vin. The car has 72,900 miles and is cleaning up better than I originally thought it would. I will replace a few things shortly like hood insulator, coil cover, and map pockets. I will also try and get the wheels re-finished over the winter. Thanks to the members on this site that have answered my pm's and given advice, I appreciate it. Here's a couple pics....

Very nice man! I was under the assumption that you were the owner who was trying to sell it on craigslist. Guess not.
Looks good though!

Congrats also on your purchase. Looks Nice!

What's involved in buying this car in the US and then driving it over the border to Canada?

Thanks, you weren't the only one that thought I was the seller...The seller wasnt really familiar with these cars or mustangs in general hence his craigslist ad...there was no K&N" intake"...lol, just a filter, and rear bumper wasnt "replaced"..just painted. The original owner was def more of an enthusiest, he kept the window sticker, owners manual, warranty card etc, and ordered the certificate.

Thanks..copies of title, sales receipt, and transfer agreement need to be dropped off or faxed to the us customs at the border that the the car will cross into canada atleast 72 hrs before export. Bring the car to the us customs, they will confirm vin and stamp the us state title. Then you go through canadian customs and fill out a FORM 1 for transport canada and canada customs signs and fills out some of the form, pay taxes on the sale price. Once car is in Canada it needs an inspection before it can be titled and insured for driving. Thats basically it....I saved myself $580. brokerage by bringing the car across myself and doing the necessary paperwork, I was at the border for no more than 45 mins.

I did spend about 6 hours on just cleaning the car so far and will spend some more...Car was extremely dirty and didnt show well at all. I was playing with the pockets yesterday and it looked like I could tighten the elastic up a bit and straighten em up a bit, just thought Id replace them and put these away. The car does have a couple small door dings but that is expected. The only scratches are on the repainted rear skin, and theyre pretty small....lol, may get it redone again.

Thanx, was close to making an offer on the red oregon car till I blew a pic up and saw what looked to be paint starting to crack, kind of glad I waited and spent quite a bit less for a car that was more of what I was looking for. And by spending less, I will keep my coupe aswell...win win
