Aaron had looked up my vin and he said after it was sold at the insurance auction it made its way out to Kentucky or TN but no one has ever registered it, who knows someone might have used it for parts or made it a drag car

Feb 09, I just dug these pictures off an old pc today, man I miss my Red!

I sold the black one shortly after it had 20k miles and she is out in southern TX now, it was originally a NY car, gray leather, sunroof....

Damn man that red looked good! My wife even said she liked it! :)
What exhaust was that?
Just curious how much did the insurance company give you? Did you have a stated policy or what? Reason i ask is because i just have a regular policy with Geico.

I'd highly recommend you check into insurance w/Hagerty, Grundy or other collector car insurance for your Cobra. In general, the collector car insurers offer stated value coverage for a car like the Cobra for much less than Allstate, Geico, Liberty Mutual, State Farm and the like charge. More importantly, if you have an accident with a standard auto policy, your Cobra will likely be totaled with you receiving very little $$ based on the book value the standard auto insurance companies will assign to this car.

After my '89 GT reached 20 years old, I was able to switch from a regular policy with Liberty Mutual to Hagerty and ended up with full coverage with a much higher total loss value on the GT for hundreds less per year than with Lib. Mutual. My Cobra has always been insured w/Hagerty.

One thing to keep in mind ... most collector car insurers require you to have another insured vehicle as your DD. Also, some require that the collector car be garage-kept.

Looking at those pictures, it sure looks like someone would have fixed it.

X2. I sure hope so. Doesn't look much worse than rolltide's red you revived.

It had a Bassani exhuast that was already on the car, it had these baffles you could place in the tips, man I must say I am a stocker but that exhaust sounded sick.

I also had the original window sticker, cert, airbox, other than that it was stock nice clean driver.

I had a collector policy and they gave me the full value I think it was like $12k, only catch was I told them I wanted to buy it back since I know I could have had it for a song but they told me if I couldnt if I wanted the full value. Was a really shady deal I didnt know that I legally had the right to buy it back kinda rubs me the wrong way

I will say I am suprised it wasnt fixed rear quarters, hatch, and bumper, structurally it was good to go. Oh well I am glad I didnt go down with it! :D

Did it have the x-pipe also? I love Bassani products. I've had em on all of my past Cobra's. Never heard em on a 5.0 though.

I guess your right, why would you fix it though and not register it? dont you want to drive it around?

It was definitley bassani, It might have had an xpipe but I know the headers were factory...sounded great I bet you cant even buy those catbacks for our cars now though
