Yea I know jumped in the car and drove 5 hours out there and 5 back, I was on a cobra high on the drive back loved every minute just wish it had cruise control my leg took a beating.

I will try to get some pics soon.

An 11+ drive in a cobra from TX to GA is no picnic either!

Pretty bizarre, actually. The top-of-the-line Cobra doesn't have it, yet the cheaper LX and GTs do. Many sources indicate cruise control was eliminated for weight savings which is amusing. How much extra weight do a few buttons, wiring and electronics add?

Anyone out there know the real reason Cobras don't have cruise control?

My guess is either a supplier/parts issue or Ford having problems calibrating the Cobra's unique engine control system with existing cruise control electronics.

It was a enthusiasts car, performance oriented, not many people needed cruise while at the drags, or on a road course. And a little ...very little weight savings.

Good point for the Cobra R. However, I still think there's another reason. Besides, lots of other performance oriented enthusiast cars out there have cruise control, and most Cobras spend most of the time away from the drag strip and road courses.
