Million Mileage Odometer

I have owner Fox Body GT's in the past and I purchased my first 93 Cobra in January and the car came with a million mileage odometer. The window sticker says it was factory installed but I have never seen this on any car I looked at or have seen listed on ebay. Are there any stats about the number of cars with this option and does it do anything to the value of the car?

Thanks for the info and that makes sense because the car was originally titled in upstate NY. If this was in fact a law it was new in 1993 because I bought a new 1992 GT in NY and it didn't come with a 6 digit odometer.

Not only was it in New York, but also often in surrounding states as well. Especially those close to the NY state border. That way, if someone bought out of state, then they were covered.

Typically they were NY DSO cars that recieved the million mile odometer. However, I have a friend, who is the original owner of a black 93 that she ordered. This is a NY DSO car but sold in NJ. It does not have the 2 mandatory NY DSO options, the million mile odometer or the rear window defroster.

I am also an original owner of a NY DSO 93 but mine was dealer stock and sold in NY. It does have both of these options.

Not sure what the link in the earlier post offered but Tom S, who wrote the SVT Cobra Recognition Guide and was writting the SVT Recognition Guide when he died had information that roughly 200 cars were built with the million mile odometer. My 93 was used for photo's for the 93 Cobra chapter but Tom passed away before the book was published. I'm lucky tho, I have a copy of this chapter but will never post it online out of respect for Tom's wishes.

I believe the SSP Mustangs also had the million mile odometer.
