Interesting on the shaved doors. As mentioned, I'd hold off on paint work just yet. As a positive, the shaved doors will make it harder for someone to break in (busting the lock cylinder is a popular method of entry). As a negative, unless it has an emergency release for the doors, you are screwed if you lose the remote.

The doors will remain intact till the money tree starts to spring some new leaves.
I agree with the theif part. According to the previous owner, that was the reason he did that.
For now we are focused in on restoring the original look.

Question: Are stock GT/LX springs same as Cobra? We want to raise the car back up to stock height and I was thinking of looking for some stock GT/LX.

Answer: Yes on front. No on rear. In the stock set-up, the Cobra used front springs w/the same rating as the GT/LX 5.0 models. However, the rear springs had the same rating as the 4-cylinder LX cars.

Why did they use 4cyl springs on the rear? That's strange....

That's to bad that guy shaved the door handles, some asshat shaved the lock cyliner on my notch trunk and had them weld a plate over it :cussing:

The Ford engineers believed that the stock GT/LX 5.0 suspension was too stiff for optimal handling and ride comfort. The use of the softer rear springs (along w/softer shock valving at all 4 corners and a smaller front anti-roll bar) provided better tire contact on rough roads and improved ride quality over the stiffer 5.0 set-up. However, this set-up also led to more body roll when cornering and slower slalom speeds.
