My 93 GT has this style stereo. it's premium sound. I believe this is the other style used on 93 Cobras. Mine says reverse rather than Side 1-2.

That is the Base cassette deck, , the one you pictured, is a NON premium sound. Maybe GT's don't come with premium sound, its an option

I as well as others have the above pictured radio, I can confirm with the original owners of some that the radio has never been replaced. There is another thread about this already.

Ok let me get this straight people are paying close to $500 bucks for these refurbed ford tape decks? geesh.. I’ve got like five of these turds just collecting dust. I do have a few "better than gold$$$" foxbody cd players. An they have always been worth something but not the tape decks! I swear every mustang I see at the salvage yard I’m gonna yank the stereo out and put it in my hoarder supply!

CD players seem worthless to me. I'd much rather have my tape player, then I can hook my iPhone up to it via a tape adapter. I haven't bought a CD in 10 years.

the electronic wizards can manually wire a dongle in any radio deck for your apple junk to play in them

I have NEVER seen a 93 Cobra with the Base Cassette play! I have owned at least 50, and every ORIGINAL car I have owned has had the Correct Premium One in it, also ever original Cobra I have seen on e-bay has had the correct one in it. I would like to see some pictures of original owner cars with the Base Cassette head unit in it. Seeing is believing!

No, but I don't bealieve everything I hear either, just cause someone says it's so doesn't me it is. Yes I am very aware of how ford uses what they have when they run out of stuff. Like my 2014 Shelby, it was missing a few push pins from the cowl cover.

However in the case of the radio, Just cause they used it, doesn't mean it was supposed to be there, also if he is the original owner, do you have the window sticker?

And yes they amp will still work in the cheaper radio, I never said it wouldn't. Out of the 50 I have owned, none of them came with the Cheaper head unit. Does that mean none did, maybe not. I just find it strange you have the only one that has one in it.

I know lots of old farts that have swapped stuff out, and whats to say it was not swapped out before it was sold new? Say it was a leftover and a lot tech wanted a nicer stereo, easy enough swap out. I worked on the lot back in 90/91 and I seen lots of that going on back then. No one looked at these as collector cars back then.

All I'm saying is, all 93 Cobra's has Premium sound Standard, which by FORD's Criteria, meant The Premium Head unit.
