I shortend up my antenna from 30" to 24" looks 50-million-gazillion times better when side by side, but most people wouldn't even know. I REALLY prefer shorter antennas ... so I removed the original, got a replacement from Manny, Moe, & Jack, popped off the ball tip, cut it to 6"...

I have the matching numbers with my block. It's right on the front. That matchs the vin right? Anyways, I'm tracking now on the R thing. My car is originally from MD. I didn't think FoMoCo matched numbers on the engine to the VIN in any recent years ... I recall that back in the days of the 289 HiP...
