Thanks for the info.....My car is #77, what # is yours?????......The car only has 400 miles on it, and it was stored in AZ for 20 years, never moved out of the garage....The shocks are fine....I did some research, and finally verifed that the Koni Shocks are Koni Part# 8042-1046 (rear), and 8742-1012 (Front) These are the yellow "Sport" shocks......the only difference between the current crop that I know of, is that they have the Ford Part# embossed on them......
I talked to Koni tech Mason, and after giving him the part#, he states that the torque on the retaining nut on the top of the shock should be 37 ft. lbs.....I checked and found the shocks were not anywhere near this setting....much much less.......I torqued and will take the car out in late October to a event, and see if there is any difference.......
The clunking occurs on flat roads with seams or depressions, not bumps, and it resonates throughout the interior......Again nothing loose underneath, and no apparent damage to components.....

Hmmmmm hard to diagnose via keyboard. Hopefully tighter shocks help, but I would be surprised if that was it.cobramustang1993 wrote:Thanks for the info.....My car is #77, what # is yours?????......The car only has 400 miles on it, and it was stored in AZ for 20 years, never moved out of the garage....The shocks are fine....I did some research, and finally verifed that the Koni Shocks are Koni Part# 8042-1046 (rear), and 8742-1012 (Front) These are the yellow "Sport" shocks......the only difference between the current crop that I know of, is that they have the Ford Part# embossed on them......
