i was just wondering how you guys feel about this i personally don't own a cobra but an 87 lx with t-tops.i have always wanted the t-top option and unfortunately they quit making these after the 88 model year.i love the look of the 93 cobra so i purchased parts here locally in michigan.all the parts that i have for my car are oem cobra parts , front fascia side skirts and hatch wing except for the rear bumper.i plan on going with the aftermarket black cobra wheels but i don't plan on using the cobra badging .what do you guys think?i am a few years away from completing this project.

Do whatever makes you happy and you'll enjoy. Don't worry about what others are thinking. Personally I wouldn't build a "fake" cobra but there are some real advantages to it. For example, you'd never worry about the miles you put on it. In the end you got to do what make you happy.

well i am new here in this forum and i agree with this sentiment because i think cars are meant to be driven .i had a friend i used to work with who bought the the yellow convertible back in 93 only to put like 1500 miles in like 10 years.i live 5 minutes from where they built the 93 cobra yet in my lifetime i have only seen 2 on the road.i have seen them at car shows but it is a double-edged sword with these cars , you don't want to put to much mileage on them to preserve them .by the way alot of beautiful cars on this sight

build what you want!

I think it would be a waste of oem cobra ground effects, just sell the real stuff and put cervinis on it.

T tops leak, look clunky, and they are just so Smokey and the Bandit.

Why go to all the trouble, when you can just buy this?

Edit: I just read your last post, and that plan sounds cool. The smoked chrome '93 Cobra replica wheels would look great with the copper paint. I'd still lose the t tops though, the car would just look so much smoother without them.

i don't trust aftermarket manufacturers although this was the route i was going until i found the oem parts.i think the parts are still readily available through the ford parts counter so i am not stopping anyone from repairing the real thing.a friend of mine bought a cobra wing for his car from cervinis and there was issues with the way it fit.he also had to do alot of work to get it to look decent.it might have been just a bad mold

oem parts for the 93 cobra are no longer "redily" available through the ford parts counter. you could sell the whole set for enough to buy three sets of aftermaket parts.

i have seen them spring up on ebay and brand new parts at that.of course they were an arm and a leg for them.i can see your point though with the rarity of this car ,i thought that you could still order these parts.if i were to sell any part it would be the front fascia and i would go with a stock front bumper i already have.i may be 2 years away from putting this car back together because it is a complete shell right now. i guess anything can happen in that time span and i could change my mind and do something else. i do appreciate all the comments both negative and positive because i do see both sides of the argument.i love the foxbody and i want the best that fords had to offer in this body style.hence why the cobra exterior ,asc mclaren interior .svo sail panels.

I wouldn't waste time either. No one likes a fakey.

Every car show or gas station you go to you'll get asked that "omg, is it real?!" and you'll have to regretfully say 'no, it's just an '87 gt with a lot of money in it that's not worth it if I sold it"

that is why it won't have any badges it will strictly be a mustang .besides any true mustang enthusiast would know that they didn't make t-tops in 1993.as far as losing money if i sell it i don't worry about that because i don't plan on selling it.i hope to pass this down to my son in the future.

I'd take that LX and put a nice stock GT body kit on it. Nothing says badass 5.0 like a slammed GT with dumped exhaust!
