New Cobra for the Site....Newbie

What's up fella's... Adding in Car #145 of 4993 to the list. I gonna' send some PICS when I get it washed(Black on Black). It's cold as Hell in Detroit & this car is a garage queen. I'm pretty sure you guys could help me out with some MODS if I have any questions, right? Right now I'm runnin' 4:10 gears with Cold Air Intake, stage (2) comp clutch, BBK chrome long tubes w/ offroad H-pipe w/ super 40 flows, 1.5" cowl hood(no pins) & 34,445 miles. Haven't got the speedo right yet but the gear is on order. From what I hear most people like the 3.55's in this car but I sure like these 4:10's. Any suggestions? I will be hangin' around, thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome to the site, as far as gears, 373's are generally the highest you would usually go with 5.0 motors. Unless you have an auto than 4.10's are perfect. You may run out of gear in the traps in the quarter with those gears.

So, you like the 4:10's? Some guys say that they are too low on these cars, but the car I'm looking at to buy has them and the current owner says they are great. He does not drag race it, so I guess that part isn't an issue. Can you tell me what your RPM is at 75mph? Something I would like to know as I will drive the car on the hiway alot. Thanks...

Is that a guess, or did you run it on an RPM calculator? If we had the 5th gear ratio, we could calculate and have a very close idea. Thanks...

Thanks for the welcomes, I know I couldn't believe it when SVT told me it was #145. The 4:10's came with it and 2nd is freakin' great, but 1st is only fun for donuts. I have some 3.73's coming. I haven't been to the 1/4's yet. I runs about 2800, that's a pretty good guess. I haven't got the speedo right yet, as stated speedo gear is on order. Thanks for the site I will post some PICS as soon as possible. I picked the car up about a month ago, drove 2000miles round trip to get it. Stole it for $7,500, I think you will agree when I post the PICS. Like I said Thanks Guys for the welcomes.

Another questiopn. 2800 seems like alot of RPM's to be running it alot on teh freeway. It might just seem like alot to me as I drive a diesel and that is just about redline! Does your car seem like it's really winding up at 75 on the freeway? I really want to be able to get in the car and drive 500 miles if I want. But I don't want to wear out or ruin anything by doing so.

Also, for the guys running 373's, what is your RPM's at 75 just for a compairason, and does it seem like you are winding it up alot at 75? Thanks all...

I had my GPS showing 75-77 & i was leanin' on 3 grand. I'm going to pull these 4:10's. Which brings me to my next question. Would it be worth paying some one to put them in or mess with it. It's been a while & if I remember right I need to have "the tool" to get the torque specs right, yes?? I guess I answered my own question then, lol. I had 3.73's in my '90 GT(which I installed 10 years ago & can't remember) and it wasn't that much different as far as RPM's

Thanks for the info. Sounds like alot of rpms to be running all the time. I drive the freeways alot, so...

PS If anyone could let me know how to post PICS of my car that would be cool. Thanks. Just would like to show off #145 :D

I have 4.10's that were put in by the previous owner. Way too much in my opinion. I had 3.55's in my '89. They were nice but I'd say 3.73's would be perfect.
