Ok I'll try and explain my problem best I can and hopefully someone can tell me how f#cking much this is gonna cost me

Symptoms: (feels like its coming from transmission or clutch but no positive)
1. Shakes and vibrates violently between 2-5 mph
2. Neutral with clutch out, or in gear clutch out or in coming to a stop or taking off
3. Only does it after it gets hot and has been driven for a while

The shifter and the car are shaking violently but it's a very fast vibration and very violent, not the kind that happens when a motor or transmission mount is broken, had that happen a few times, only driven it 3 times and it didnt do it the first time I drove it a long distance just the last 2

I highly advise not driving it till you figure it out. My first guesses are:

• Loose wheel or wheels, check all your lugs
• Loose driveshaft

I'm assuming the motor isn't making any death noises or anything, and the vibration is drivetrain related?

Have you check the mounts?

If so and their ok, I would pull the trans and take a look at the clutch, pressure plate, and most of all the input shaft of the trans and the PILOT bearing and see if there are signs of any abnormal wear.

I'm thinking input shaft bearings or the pilot bearing are either worn or damaged somehow..

Definitely nothing weird with the motor, I've never felt this before, purs above 5 mph, no problems at all at idol or above 5 mph

The tranny mounts Brett? I haven't checked anything under the car yet, I'm gonna take it in to ford. Damn this is irritating, had a nice cruise planned over on svtp over on the coast on Sunday, won't be doing that

I've had those go out, doesn't the shifter lift up if a tranny mount is broke?

True, exhaust could be coming in contact with frame/body/steering shaft if a mount is broken...

My dads el camino had a similar problem recently. Turned out to be a flywheel/pressure plate problem. Don't remember exactly what about it was the prob though.
I know you've checked it but it does sound like a mount also.

I had a transmission mount break in my camaro back in the day and it felt very different from this, the shifter felt like it wanted to come through the roof it was bouncing so high and the shifter in the mustang isn't doing anything but shaking, ill take it to ford though and figure it out, not sure when as it seems my last day of work is jan 1 so we'll see

If it is the transmission mount easy fix, I would just kinda inspect it myself. Did you say the cars has 3:73 gears?

x2, Brian, save the money, We could walk you threw this.
Some simple tools and you can do it in your driveway, ford will probably charge ya a little over 100 bucks to just give you an diagnosis.

Its simple to pull the trans out of these cars. Less then an hour.

There could be a number of things kinda hard to figure it out without actually driving it or being around the car.

I agree Brett, I have done motor and tranny mounts I was referring to internals in the tranny and clutch, never done either, I'm gonna check under it soon I was also thinking maybe something is messed up. From when I pulled the whole exhaust out and replaced it and put it all back
