Local tax office(texas) put 93 cobra value @ $2,190.40 cents and that is 80% of Book . according to them.

so question is when you buy these cars at 9 10 15 k or you paying taxes on that ?

You're suppose to put what you paid for it on the title. And then you would pay taxes on that amount.

Agreed. Whatever sale price is, is what you are supposed to pay sales tax in MO also. Unless your are buying a new vehicle with dealer paperwork, rarely does anyone put the actual price on their bill of sale.

I paid over $1000 to the DMV when I bought mine. My yearly registration is only $38.

I paid 3500 for f150 they charged me taxes on 4900. They go by a price list they invented. But if it books for 3500 and you tell them you paid 10k you paid taxes on 10k

NV doesn't have a state income tax, so I can write it off my 2012 IRS taxes.

Why are NADA and KBB values for the '93 Cobra still in the $3-4k range?? None sell in that range even rollers.

I'll never understand why a used car gets taxed multiple times. When it was purchased new, sales tax was paid on it's full purchase price. Why must they collect tax on it over & over & over again? I feel once it's been taxed at it's full NEW price... that should be the end of it. NO MORE TAX!!!

With few exceptions anytime anything is sold the government wants their cut.

Anyone know any banks that will finance on these cars? I used to use Navy Federal Credit Union but I spoke with them today and they said since it turned 20 years old 3 weeks ago they have to do it as a collector car loan and the lowest interest rate is...............8.9%
Car insurance goes down as a vehicle gets older...why does the interest rate jump up 6% when it turns 20 years old? wtf
