Well.... here we go... My first experience at seeing a 1993 cobra in person and "KNOWING" it was a 1993 cobra and not just another good looking car on the street was when my friend and I were in high school (1998 or so) and we were driving in his 1994 black COBRA. While driving, this super sweet sounding black car pulls up and revs at my friend... Well being a teenager then... I of course EGGED HIM ON TO RACE. I remember thinking at the time... "Damn that looks like the same body style as my dads old car" NOTE: He had a 1988 4cyl convertible (FOXBODY) Bright Regatta Blue Metallic. I proceed to look and noticed the cobra badges on the side... "Crap ... they made cobras in foxbodies?"

Well that black car and my friends 94 cobra slow down and then.......
DOWNSHIFT!!!!!! We both take off like a bat out of hell....
WE ARE FLYING DOWN a 2 lane street (one direction 45MPH) chasing behind this 93 easily at 90 - 95 mph. WEAVING>>>> WEAVING in and out of rush hour traffic.... I mean the cars the 93 cobra was cutting off.... we cut off worse.... LOL....People were braking because they saw us coming up on them... QUICK.... We stayed on his a$$ though. Well after a half mile chase, my friend backed his 94 cobra off. He told me later his leg was shaking after we got done, so clearly it made him nervous and he was the one driving. I wonder sometimes how I survived high school. There were NUMEROUS times my friend and myself should have gotten in a bad wreck.

Its chalked up as one of those things I dont tell my daughter I did when she gets older.

ANYONE ELSE got good stories of first time seeing a 93 cobra?

Nothing that exciting here! I saw my first one in Thrifty Nickel type local mag w/ pictures (Wheel Deals).

I had always wanted a GT (FIVE OH) and then when I found out they made COBRAS, I had to have one. Sure enough I have one and getting ready to supercharge it, OH YEAH.

I bought a new '92 LX 5.0 around the end of '91. I really liked the car except for one thing, it had an AOD. I made a huge mistake of purchasing the car without having test driven the automatic as I'd only test driven 5-speeds up to that point. So, the AOD combined with 2.73 gears = slooooooo so I upgraded to 3.55 gears which helped a lot. Anyway, driving to my buddies house one day, I spot this teal mustang, a color I'd never seen before, and notice the different wing and what's those snakes on the fenders? I'd never heard of a Cobra before that...needless to say, I did a little research on it and that was it, the '92 was going to get traded in. I found mine (black on black) at a dealership close by...funny thing is, it was a small dealer and they stored the cars in a 2 story building on the upper floor and the cobra was parked behind 2 other cars. The salesman was like 'do you want to test drive it, it's going to take an hour or so for us to get it out of there?'....and I said 'nope, no need to, let's talk'. :D So, 2 hours later, I get in the car for the first time, and man, I take off going down the street and I had the BIGGEST GRIN on my face (as you can imagine) and I knew right there I had made the right call.

I knew about them when they first published preproduction photos in the magazines in late '92, and knew I needed one. I still have most of the magazines that tested them. I bought mine brand new with 18 miles on it at a local Ford dealer in October 1993, teal with leather, power seat, and CD player. No sunroof, no defroster (Arizona) they had the exact car I would have ordered. #1882 is still with its' original owner, although without much of its' original stock equipment.

I remember seeing my first 93 cobra at a local late night drag racing spot off in the corner and it was black w/leather after asking around come to find out that it was owned by some girl and I ended up dating her 10 years later but come to find out that the car was stolen from her apartment complex..

From that point on I was in love.......with the car...

First one I saw was the one down in the garage. That of course not counting the dealer literature my dad brought home. My dad wanted a black one and even had one on order. A week later they called and said it would be a few weeks before a black one was available but a teal one was coming in on the truck that afternoon. It was the first one that the dealership would get in. He went over that afternoon and waited about 15 - 20 mins for the truck to get there and he saw it sitting at the light. (Perks of being able to cut out of work whenever you want!) Before the truck could even pull into the lot, he looked at the sales manager and said "Ill take it."

He did all the paper work that day and the next day we went together to pick it up. I remember seeing it for the first time sitting where the new car deliveries were sitting. I even remember another salesman telling my dad he should save his money and buy the black 93 LX with a Paxton supercharger on it they had for sale too...haha...

Its cool to remember all the times my dad and I have had with the car, and its nice to know that the car has stayed within the family.

Thats my first time seeing on live and in the flesh.
