1993 Cobra Registry

My tires are dry rotted to the point I have zero traction. What new tires are made for the 93 Cobra? I've found the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS EMT after doing some quick research but before I invest the money I was wondering what others are buying.

IMO (and if $$ is no object), one of the best tires you can buy is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Nitto NT555 tires are another great choice for a better price.

BFG Comp Sport 2..a great tire at a great price. The same tire that Miller Motorsports uses on the Boss 302's at the Ford Racing school. I have a set on my cobra and love them. Also had a set on an 86GT that I liked.

I've had good luck with fallen tires and they aren't expensive

Agreed. That is what the new GT350 will be riding on.

Almost bought a set for my car after searching months for some OE correct ZR45s. Right before I was gonna buy a set from Tire Rack I found my ZR45s...if not for that some Michelins would be on my car!

BTW, whatever happened to Goodyear supposedly reissuing the ZR45s? I thought someone here on the forum knew the head engineer at GoodYears best friends-sisters-brothers-neighbor who said they were looking to put them out sometime last year???

With apologies to all the Gatorback fans out there, but the best thing Goodyear can do is keep that design retired. That mid-80s technology is far surpassed by the traction and handling of so many of the high performance tires available today. The only thing the Gatorbacks are good for is winning points for a stock Cobra at a car show.

Thanks for the suggestions, anything is better than what I have now. Obviously the price of the g-Force Sport COMP-2 tires is way cheaper than anything I've found so that's probably what I'll try. Thanks again.

I think you will love the tires, as I do. Call around to local tire shops and try to find a shop with a no touch machine. This way your wheels won't be marred when the new tires get installed. A Mercedes, Audi, Benz, BMW dealer could also help you with this.

Thanks for the tip, I never thought of that and the rims are in mint condition and I would not be happy if there was damage to them during a tire installation.

Also, make sure when the wheels/tires are balanced that the shop uses the adhesive weights on the inside of the wheel rather than the clip on style on the outside edge of the rim.
