What's a good replacement tire now, since they don't make the original Gatorback tires anymore? I am looking for a good riding tire that is nicely priced, or maybe the name of the Goodyear tire that replaced the original Gatorbacks would be a good option. Thanks for anyones input!

Goodyear has replaced the Gatorback with the F1 series tires, they aren't the cheapest tire for replacement if your car is a driver.

If you're interested in getting away from Goodyear, I highly recommend Nitto NT555 tires.

I went with Goodyear Eagle Sport,
side by side to the original Gatorback they are very similiar and I'm pleased with the ride so far
@ $135.00 each not to bad on the wallet

I recently installed a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS3's in the stock size when I went to five lug. The originals were on the car with a little over 17K before the swap. The Michelins are a bit pricey, but in my opinion well worth it. Far superior to the stock Goodyears. This is the second time I have replaced stock Goodyears with Michelin (the other was a '95 Corvette) and in both cases the Michelins were much better in handling, comfort, noise and especially wet conditions. I know the 21 year old originals have become hard and lost traction over time (no dry rot or cracking, plenty of tread left) but to the best of my recollection didn't compare to the Michelins even when new.

I just put Michelins on my daily driver, a BMW 328i. They are pricey as a brand, but they are really nice. Excellent traction, nice ride, and quiet. I think they are worth the extra money, especially on a car that doesn't get driven a lot so replacement will not be frequent. When I am ready for a new set on my Cobra I will probably go Michelin.

Thanks for posting this info fellas as my cobra will be due for a new set of tires shortly. Probably gonna look at the Michelins and the nittos.
