Fuel usage

Post by big frank »

I imagine that all you guys use Premium gas in your 93s, but what is called out in the owners manual? At 9:1 compression, it doesnt seem like its needed. Let me know. Thanks...

Mine is BONE stock (other than the battery...which is a stock-ish Autolite, everything is original) and use 87 gas. Figured there is no point using 91 since I haven't even touched the timing.

No pinging or knocking? How about what oil are you using? Thanks...

Nope, no noise. I think I put conventional Valvoline or Castrol 10w-30 last time. But I have a case of 10w-30 Penzoil Synthetic waiting to go in.

Yeah, I will probaby run synthetic in mine also. It sure makes a difference in my equiptment, especially the air cooled stuff.

I see you are in Sac. Was down there yesterday looking at a Cobra. I'm in Red Bluff.

Thanks, that's what I figured for a 9 to 1 compression car.

Another question. The car I'm going to buy has some rock chips and a spot on the rear bumper cover that needs attention. Is the paint available to fix the rock chips, and should I even bother? Don't what to make it look worse. The spot on the bumper I will probably have done at a shop, but wondered if I could fix the rock chips. The car is nice except for these problems. Thanks...

I just assumed putting in 87. Looks like I was right. I only 12MPG that whole first tank of gas through this thing. Although, most of the 160miles on that tank was me doing donuts and flooring it showing all of my friends one by one day by day; it seems like. LOL I think 24mpg is a long shot, for me at least.

I saw a 35k mile teal Cobra on craigslist going for $13k. I was seriously thinking about selling my black one for that one. Did you look at that Cobra?

I bought it! It's clean, not perfect, but nice. Is your black a 93? I can tell you were a near perfect teal/leather is if you are looking for one. I was gong to buy it, but the owner (a friend of mine) hasn't commited to sell. I think he is going to as he has his eye on a newer Mach 1. I think he is wanting somewhere around 10k for it, and it's worth it. 2 owner, both adults that keep their stuff imaculate (I know both of them) with 110k miles on the clock, but you wouldn't know it by looking at it. I got excited to buy one and picked up the one down your way. Will have pics up soon.

What have you done to yours?
