Ned info on fixing console ashtray

Post by big frank »

I knocked it off the spring and hinge. Does anyone have specific instrutions on how to fix this. The ashtray lid is cracked, but the hinges and spring seem to be fine, except that they are off their mounts. Thanks...

The easiest way is to order an ashtray repair kit and it comes with instructions as well.

Actually, the lid has a small hairline crack in it, which isn't even noticable when closed. I looked at an exploded view of the ashtray and console and got it figured out. If wasn't broken after all, just nocked off the mounts. Fixed it in about 10 or 15 minutes. Thanks...

I guess it must be a normal problem with these cars. Mine was, and still is, just about perfect. Atleast they still have the parts available...

Just did the ash tray repair kit. I only had one broken stud so it wasn't too bad. But the kit is pretty slick and works well.

Nice to know if mine gives me more problems. I looked at armrest pads today., WOW! $64.99 is kinda pricy for them. I think I will try and fix mine.
